What is the difference between an Amazon Wig and Your (Insure Beauty’s) Wig?

Wow! Before we launch our Wig Collection, it is vital to answer this question. The short answer is Quality.

I know your thinking - of course, you will tell me that - you are a wig supplier and want me to purchase your wigs.

And our response would be - honestly, lovely - it is up to you who you choose to purchase your wig from and how much of the quality matters to you. But, for the heck of it - let’s consider the following:

  • What is a Virgin Hair Wig?
  • What is the difference between a Synthetic Wig and a Virgin Hair Wig?
  • Does Density matter?
  • What is a 5x5,6x6,13x4 and 13x6?
  • How can I tell if my wig is good quality?

What is a Virgin Hair Wig?

Before we answer the question, what is a Virgin Hair Wig? Let’s first discuss what virgin hair is; depending on who you ask, it may depend on the answer. However, after intense research, I gathered it here.

Virgin Hair has not been chemically processed to create its texture. It typically has 2-3 hair donors, and the cuticles* are aligned. One hundred percent virgin hair is the second highest quality of human hair after Remy. Genuine virgin hair will be thick and full from the root to the ends. Virgin Hair comes from countries such as China and India. China has been one of the most popular countries in which to source virgin hair due to its advanced alignment techniques.

In the product description, you may note that there are 2 —4 bundles. This will indicate how many bundles were used and how long and lush the wig will take. However, using three bundles for an 8-inch wig is unnecessary. Typically, the longer the wig, the more bundles are used, and the higher the wig cost.

*Cuticles are the outermost layer of the individual hair stand.

What is the difference between a synthetic wig and a virgin hair wig?

In short, synthetic wigs are made from artificial fibers such as polyethylene terephthalate, PVC, vinyl, acrylic, and silk. Synthetic hair cannot be colored or heated.

Synthetic hair is artificial and made from various chemicals and products, costing significantly less than a virgin wig.

Before purchasing a wig, it is strongly suggested that you read the fine print, as some units are a blend of synthetic hair and virgin hair.

So, does density really matter? Yes, density relates to the fullness of the wig or bundle. Density is the percentage of strands per square inch. The greater the number, the thicker the hair.

What is a 5x5,6x6,13x4 and 13x6?

One of the biggest questions when purchasing a wig is whether you want a closure or lace front unit. A closure wig or lace closure consists of less lace than a frontal wig. Therefore, closure wigs are available in 2x6, 4x4,5x5 and 6x6. Closure wigs allow for middle and side parts. Closure wigs are beginner-friendly due to the amount of lace and maintenance needed for the wig.

Lace fronts or Frontals consist of lace covering the entire front of the wig from ear to ear. Therefore, this allows for more flexibility regarding parting and styling. Frontal wigs are available in 13x4 or 13x6; these units are recommended for advanced wig wear due to the maintenance of the wig and caring for the lace. Typically, lace front wigs are more expensive than closure wigs.

How can I tell if my wig is of good quality? As we have discussed thus far, before purchasing a wig, be sure to read the fine print and check the reviews of the business and the wig. If you have additional questions, be sure to contact someone for clarification if this information is not available on the website. Here are a few points to keep in mind:

  • Be sure that virgin hair is actual and not a blend of synthetic and virgin hair.
  • Check for the density of the wig or bundles.

After all, it is truly up to you whether you purchase your wig from Amazon or Insure Beauty, LLC. After considering the facts regarding wigs, you have decided on quality over quantity. Our virgin hair wigs are sourced from China, have a density of 200%, and are available in a natural 1B. It is our goal to Insure that you always look and feel beautiful.
